It gives you the ability to play and burn both CDs and DVDs. It is slim and portable and is powered by USB so there is no bulky power adapter to carry with you.

This Blu-ray Burner performs as expected, but there is one catch. The case is so thin that it can be difficult to close the drawer without catching. Since the drive is so light, it usually takes a little downward force to keep it from sliding across the desk when pushing the drawer closed, but this pressure is enough to bend the case into the slot where the drawer belongs enough that it gets blocked. Thus, it takes a two-handed approach or an awkward grip to get the door closed. Once you learn how to work around this, it's not too bad, but I eventually purchased the larger Blu-ray Burner just to get a solid case that isn't so flimsy. The lower cost mostly makes up for this shortcoming.
