Reader For Mac Sony E-reader

So I've read a lot of reviews slamming this reader, however as I agree with some of the negatives, they are similar to other readers.
First a word about Ace Photo, I received a previously sold item as new. After the initial unacceptable response, Ace to their credit not only replaced it at no charge but refunded my return shipping. So I can recommend them without hesitation.
As for the Reader, I have had it for over a year, this is a replacement as the original fell off an end table and the screen 'luckily' hit a solid object and shattered..the device still worked, but the screen was shot.. So I have used this reader for a long time.
The Good:
It is a reader, and it does that pretty well, I am not interested in all the extra features and functions like music/pictures etc.. it's just for reading. Battery life is reasonable for my use, and I have no issues plugging in each night or as needed. I've got about 40 books in it with plenty of room..
It is light, and the touch screen works fine, I can actually use it one handed and still manage to turn the page on the first flick about 99% of the time. I also appreciate the the simplistic design, i.e. no wasted space with a keyboard (i.e. kindle like). Keeping the buttons off the sides prevents issues with accidental page turns, which based on how I hold the reader could be an issue on the kindle with the buttons on the left/right..
The matching case with built in light fits well, and locks the unit on without issue, however the light is someone useless even though it is unobtrusive and has some flexible placement options. Just not enough light for my old eyes.
The Bad:
The original cost of the device was a bit high, but has come down to kindle pricing (of course without wifi). Direct light is a killer for readability as is what I call the 'mirror' effect, where uneven light (like outdoors) causes some difficulty. The cost of books from what I've bought aren't any different than amazon's kindle book pricing, for the books I've bought anyways. For those who find not having wifi an issue, that's fine. I just don't see the need for it, as I purchase several books at a time, especially if going on vacation or going away for a period of time witout a laptop. So no issue for me, but I can understand the convenience factor.
The flat front buttons are ok, but not perfect, they are a bit flat and don't have good feel..so it can be challenging to use for long periods of time.
The desktop software for this device is ahhh terrible. Enough said, Borders, Nook (B&N) and Kindle all of better versions that I actually use on my Android HTC Incredible (2nd reader device for small books/short stories).
Summary:
I don't have all the issues some folks have written about, but I suppose you'll have to make your own minds up. I will say in the year plus, I've not had many of the issues others have listed. I liked it so much that when I broke the screen, I decided to buy this unit again rather than go the kindle route, which was my 2nd choice..lose the keyboard and maybe the kindle wins.. Either way, this unit has servered as a great reader for me.
